If you’ve ever craved a warm, comforting plate of dumplings for dinner during a cold winter evening, this is the class for you! Ger will guide you in making your own Asian-style dumplings from scratch. We’ll make the dough, roll the wrappers, and fill dumplings with your fillings of choice. Learn about the different kinds of Asian-style dumplings, and impress your family with fancy dumpling folds! Both meat and vegetarian filling ingredients will be provided. As always, we’ll end the class with an Asian-inspired feast, where we’ll taste the dumplings we’ve made alongside a spread of other delicious dishes.

Dim Sum is a family tradition in Hong Kong. Every weekend, extended family and close friends gather together to enjoy a few boisterous hours of leisurely lunch and tea sipping, ordering small plates from carts wheeled around the restaurant. These tapas-style meals are some of the most famous Chinese foods in America, especially in Chinatowns. But what do you do when you don’t live close to a Chinatown? Cook them at home, of course! Join Ger as she shows you how to easily prepare select dim sum dishes in your own kitchen, as well as an introductory course on Chinese teas and how to pair them with your meal. You’ll impress your server the next time you go out for Chinese food.

This class will include instruction on making several different dim sum-style dishes, as well as a tasting of Chinese teas. Snacks will be provided, and we will be cooking and eating our finished dim sum at the end of the class.

Each workshop is a little different, as we work with so many different partner organizations. The price of your class ticket will reflect that, as some workshops will have extras included (drinks, tours, dinner). Please wear comfortable clothes and come prepared to do some light cooking (cutting vegetables, mixing). All equipment is provided, but if you have a beloved kitchen knife or favorite apron you’d like to bring, feel free!
