ORDERING
New product preorders
Our new to market products need time to ferment and usually can only be purchased via preorder while we're ramping up. Preorders will open and close at designated times. If you miss a preorder window, you can follow us on social or sign up for the Red Kettle Kimchi newsletter to be notified of future preorder dates.
Order packing lead times
We are a small team of 3 doing everything by hand in our kitchen in Belfast! Our average lead times for packing orders are 1-3 business days. During the summer (our busy season), our lead times may be up to 5 business days. If it has been more than 7 business days since your order and you haven't received a shipment notice, please email hello@redkettlekimchi.com.
Do you ship outside the continental U.S.?
We only ship our food products within the continenal U.S at this time. Merch is available to ship to all U.S. states and territories.
Do you ship internationally?
Unfortunately, our physical products are only offered to U.S. customers at this time.
SHIPPING
When will my order ship?
We ship out orders Tuesdays and Wednesdays to avoid your package sitting at the post office over weekends. If you're pre-ordering, your confirmation email should have a date range of when your kimchi should be ready for delivery. If these dates change, you'll receive another email with updates. Thank you in advance for your patience!
Pickup (Maine only)
If you're located in Maine, you have the option to choose local pickup of your kimchi at our production kitchen in Belfast, Maine.
You'll receive an email to coordinate a pickup time. If it has been several days since your order and you still haven't received a pickup email, please contact hello@redkettlekimchi.com.
(Our kitchen is not open to the public, so please don't just come by to get your order without notification :)
Shipping Fees and Times
Small and medium packages ship via USPS Priority Mail. Large orders will be shipped via UPS. The shipping fee is a flat rate, so the more you order, the more economical the shipping. Orders over $80 ship free!
Packages generally arrive within 3 days, but transit times are not guaranteed. During the holiday season (late November - mid January), USPS mail times are slower and it may take longer for your package to reach you. Please order with plenty of time if you're buying gifts for the holiday.
During summer heat waves, we may delay your kimchi shipment. You'll receive an email with your new estimated ship date in this case.
How can I track my order?
As soon as your order is shipped, you'll receive an email with a USPS tracking number.
Keep in mind that it can take up to 48 hours before the tracking is available. Can't track your package after 48h? Please send us an email at hello@redkettlekimchi.com.
Caring for your kimchi after receipt
Kimchi is shipped unrefrigerated. The probiotics inside your jar of kimchi are still alive and well. The warmer the weather, the more active they will be. You may see a bulging of the top of the lid and little bit of bubbling or fizzing when you open it. In some cases, if the package has been tossed around, the kimchi may be leaking a little bit out of the jar. All this is totally normal and the kimchi is still safe to eat! Please refrigerate your kimchi after you receive it to slow down the fermentation.
Delays, Lost Packages, and Damaged Items
USPS Priority mail generally arrives within 2-3 days, but delivery times aren't guaranteed. If it has been 10 business days since your package was shipped and you haven't received it, please let us know, and we will gladly re-ship your order.
*NOTE ON HOLIDAY SHIPPING: During the holiday season (December and January), Priority Mail may be slower, and package scanning may not be reliable. Sometimes packages don't get scanned for several days - this is (unfortunately) normal.
